Welcome to the new iteration of the BOMA BYLINE.
As I had shared with you in a previous column, the board of directors in its effort to continue to bring you up-to-date information about the happenings of the organization and having to be conscience of the “bottom line” of doing business decided to migrate the BOMA BYLINE to an HTML format.
As a part of this transition, the board will shortly be reviewing new advertising formats and rates for both the BYLINE and our website. Because of the formatting change in the way the newsletter is published now, we will be working with current advertisers to insure a smooth transition. Thank you all for your continuing support of BOMA Silicon Valley during this transition time.
On October 6th BOMA Silicon Valley celebrated its third annual Celebration of Commercial Real Estate Awards Dinner. We had more attendees than ever before with 176 members and friends present. And a thank you to our loyal and supportive sponsors, of which we had more of this year as well! Not bad for an economy that is still very fragile.
Thank you to those of you who attended and supported BOMA SV at this years function. I believe you did so out of recognition for the organization and its leaders who have worked so very hard this past year to maintain the organization’s momentum as the only full service commercial real estate association in Silicon Valley. We had many winners of both the TOBY and Emerald Awards and recognized those members who received the Volunteer of the Year Awards.
Many individuals contributed to the evening program from our ever reliable photographer and PowerPoint producer Kent Goetz to the TOBY and Emerald Awards chairs Liz Walker, Laura Galvin and Cass Contreras to BOMA’s ever loyal and always hard working Office Manager Barbara Hopwood. Thank you all for a great program! And a thank you to President Eric Dameron-Drew and colleague Marc Intermaggio, EVP BOMA San Francisco for their contributions to the program as well.
If you did not attend the evening's program and festivities I highly recommend that you view the photos of the event. You will find photos of yours truly with various bizarre props either worn or being held on to as I was recognized at the dinner for my time with the organization, although I subscribe to the Woody Allen adage: "80 percent of success is just showing up”! I was also presented with a Certificate of Recognition and a Kindle Fire.
