  NOVEMBER 2017

BOMA Helps Fire Victims

BOMA members, colleagues and friends responded quickly and generously to support victims of the Sonoma and Napa fires in October. The effort was spearheaded by Brian Garcia, Cagwin & Dorward (whose family was also impacted by the fire). Multiple loads of food, clothing, bedding, and other supplies were transported to shelters and emergency distribution centers.

Special recognition should also go to Rob Davis of Genesis Building Services who appeared at the BOMA office to load trucks and trailers each time our conference room reached storage capacity. Universal Site Services provided a truck to handle the overflow of supplies we received in the final days of the donation campaign. Thank you.

But we aren't stopping now! As the folks up north try to get back on their feet, they will need...everything. We have been asked to collect gift cards (gas, Safeway, Target, Walmart, etc.) to be handed out as these families leave the shelters and try to get their lives back on track.

Join us at our November 16 luncheon to drop off a gift card + hear a great panel discuss what is being done to help us find our next CRE employees (and keep the ones we have!).

Renew!

BOMA Silicon Valley 2018 dues invoices are on their way! The BOMA SV Board of Directors held the dues pricing to 2016 levels again this year. Renewal letters and invoices are being mailed in early November. Your dues are due January 1, 2018. (If not paid by January 31, members will be dropped and must reapply.)

In addition to including the 4 quarterly luncheons in your dues, discounts on attendance for programs, classes and events, and all other benefits of BOMA Silicon Valley membership, NEW this year is a $250.00 education subsidy for each Principal, Student or Non-Profit/Government member which may be used to lower your cost for any BOMA SV offered RPA or FMA designation class or certificate class.

Our Committees and volunteers are gearing up for another outstanding year of activities: our Trade Show in April, Golf Tourney in June, informative quarterly luncheon programs in February, May, September & November, plus classes, workshops and more fun networking events throughout the year. Don’t miss any of it…renew today!

Share Your Heart

BOMA members continue their tradition of giving with their support of our annual charity program, Share Your Holiday. For 28 years our organization has provided clothes, food and toys for local children and their families.

Our Share Your Holiday Chairs, Tatiane Martins and Sam Russell ask you to once again step up and sponsor, buy raffle tickets or auction items and volunteer to shop, wrap & deliver gifts to our sponsored families.

Sponsor!  Cash, auction/raffle prizes or a bottle of wine for our two wine vaults are all needed.  Help us raise more than ever to help these kids!

Attend!  We have a spectacular luncheon event planned on Friday, December 1 at the beautiful Westin Sainte Claire in downtown San Jose. Join us for a glass of champagne while you compete for those amazing silent auction prizes or buy a wine vault key for your chance to win a vault filled with wine. A wonderful chance to do good while having a great time with colleagues and friends. But don’t delay…this event sells out early!

Volunteer! We plan to adopt over 100 children again this year.  That’s a lot of shopping! Help us make this a brighter holiday season for these kids.

Save with Water Efficient Technology (WET) Rebates

Your business can receive up to $50,000 for the installation of water efficient technology!

The Santa Clara Valley Water District provides a rebate of up to $50,000 for the installation of technology that reduces business water use.

The Water District offers a flexible and customized approach – a wide range of technology qualifies for a rebate, in order to help your business achieve measurable water savings. Some common examples include onsite water recycling, water reuse, as well as cooling tower and chiller efficiency upgrades. Commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in Santa Clara County are eligible to apply for this Water Efficient Technology (WET) rebate.

The benefits of this rebate include:

  • Obtain financial assistance to modernize your facility with the latest water efficient technology
  • Save money on your water bill – and possibly your energy bill, as well
  • Conserve water, a precious resource.

The application process is simple. You can find the application form and instructions here. Submit a completed application form at least seven weeks before technology is planned for installation.

Rebates are based on measured water savings. The rebate amount is $4 per CCF (Hundred Cubic Feet or 748 gallons) of water saved per year by installed equipment, or 50% of the equipment cost, whichever is lower. The maximum rebate is $50,000 per project, and the minimum is $400. Rebates are subject to funding availability and program restrictions.

For more information, go to the Water District website, email nbijoor@valleywater.org or call (408) 630-2040.
