Facilities Maintenance I - Atlantic Aviation

DESCRIPTION
We are seeking self-motivated, safe, positive, enthusiastic, goal oriented individuals for an immediate opening as a Facilities Maintenance I employee at our facility in San Jose, California.  Corporate aviation continues to be a viable means of travel for many who do not like the long lines and delays often times encountered with the airlines and many corporations are now leasing or purchasing their own private aircraft.  Our Facilities Maintenance employees provide the maintenance of all hangar and building equipment and systems and perform preventative and unscheduled maintenance as directed

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong "hands on" troubleshooting skills in HVAC, pneumatic and electrical thermostats, electrical and plumbing
  • Experienced general building repair.
  • Understands basic building system design and operation, i.e., fire system, domestic water system, HVAC system and electrical distribution system
  • Reads and understands equipment instruction manuals
  • Aviation / Aircraft hangar experience a plus
  • Ability to use a fork lift, boom lift, or scissor lift to repair light fixtures, replace lamps, or repairs as needed
  • Respond to emergency calls after hours during "on-call" schedule rotated between Facility Maintenance Team
  • Use of BlackBerry or other smart phone device in the completion of work orders and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Inspect roofs, gutters, satellites, antennas periodically
  • Working knowledge of appropriate local, state and federal building codes
  • Familiar with fire life safety local and state codes
  • Working knowledge of HAZMAT and MSDS procedures/protocols
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.  Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with building and hangar tenant / customers Good organizational skills and compiles appropriate information to plan and complete assigned tasks
  • Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, Outlook, Internet
  • Self starter, ability and motivation to work independently with minimal direction Must maintain a valid state driver's license and meet the company's insurability requirements
  • Ability to comprehend and perform basic math calculations with minimal errors Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form
  • Able to read and interpret blue prints and schematics

All candidates must promote and maintain a positive image of the Atlantic Aviation at all times. Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and random tests, have and maintain a clean DMV record and pass an FBI background check. Also: High school diploma or GED certificate, Be at least 18 years of age and posess A valid state drivers license and meet the company's insurability requirements. 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES

* Visually inspect property, equipment, hangar and building
* Walks up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure practice or implementation
* Detects emergency alarms - auditory and/or visual
* Cleaning inspections require getting on hands and knees to inspect inaccessible areas
* Ability to work weekends and extended hours if necessary
* Climb ladders to adjust air flow and make inspections above ceiling
* Trained and capable of moving chemical distribution containers, drums and tanks via pallet jack or when required, forklift
* Able to climb ladders and perform maintenance activities on building / hangar roofs
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

EDUCATION: High school graduate with two to three years' relevant experience in modern office building plus three to five years' experience in facilities maintenance

Two year trade school certificate emphasizing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety and building control systems Relevant state/local license for stationary engineer and/or HVAC, plus universal level refrigerant recovery license
